Depy Antoniou is a graduate in Fine and Applied Arts from the University of Western Macedonia, Greece, currently based in the Netherlands. Her artistic pursuits revolve around performance art, video performance, sound design, and installations. Her current focus is on exploring the potential for combining these media in the spatial realm, creating installations or alternative musical instruments that visitors can interact with.
Her process often involves collecting sounds from both natural and urban landscapes, using artistic walking as a practice. This method forms the foundation for the composition of soundscapes and sound designs that play a vital role in her work. To achieve this, she utilizes software to edit the sounds and create intricate sound designs and soundscapes.
Video performance, installations, and sound design serve as her primary focus media. The installations act as a significant connection between space and the performer or visitor, offering a unique perspective for the audience. Repetition and rhythm are fundamental elements that characterize her work, with the intention of constructing heterotopian spaces that challenge viewers' perceptions of space, sound, identity, and time.
